Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Tomato Festival on Sunday. The crowd was a little smaller than expected- but since it was just Paul and myself to run everything, it was probably better that way. For those who didn’t make it out, we let everyone into the raspberry and strawberry patches to pick, [...] I’m sure everyone is aware that over the weekend we had a tremendous amount of rain. At the farm we received a little over 7 inches total. The rain would’ve been appreciated in August- but you just can’t win with mother nature sometimes. Luckily our farm consists of mostly sand, which drains fast and is [...] Sorry to say that the tour has been CANCELED due to excessive amounts of rain (remnants of Ike are coming our way too). We’re not afraid of people getting wet on Sunday, instead it’s the stability of the soil that we’re doubting. Even with the small amount of rain we received today, the “parking lot” [...] A CSA member recently informed me that this Saturday is the kickoff week for the Localvore challenge! It’s all about eating products that are produced within 100 miles of Lansing… Sounds hard, but actually Michigan is 2nd only to California in the diversity of products we produce!
