I’m sure everyone is aware that over the weekend we had a tremendous amount of rain. At the farm we received a little over 7 inches total. The rain would’ve been appreciated in August- but you just can’t win with mother nature sometimes. Luckily our farm consists of mostly sand, which drains fast and is pretty helpful when there’s a lot of rain. But, of course there are some fields that are currently lakes- while others are doing fine. Unfortunately, we lost the fall planting of peas and probably the last two plantings of beans. It just hasn’t been a good pea year for us I guess. Some of the hybrid tomatoes are also lost, but most of the heirlooms will be fine. Now let’s just hope it stays a little warmer and the water recedes and the plants can grow for just a little while longer…
