A CSA Primer
A Community Supported Agriculture is a great way for consumers and farmers to connect directly! It’s getting harder for people to have the time to garden and even then the experience can be less than satisfying. As a “shareholder” of our farm you receive the bounty of our harvest, each week but without the work. By choosing to partake in a CSA you benefit not only your family but your community because you are supporting the local economy as well as helping to improve the environment. Shareholders have also commented that they eat more healthily and seasonally.
The Share Types
The CSA is 19 weeks beginning mid-June
Full Shares
This size share is recommended for a family of four who eat vegetables moderately or two vegetarians. The share is distributed every week and is often split between families.
Half Shares
This is for smaller families who eat vegetables moderately. It is the most common choice since it gives families the opportunity to try out a share, especially if you’re not in the habit of eating seasonally or eating many vegetables.
Every-Other-Week Share
A half share distributed alternating weeks, which means 10 weeks of distribution. This option is best for singles or busy couples who eat vegetables moderately.
Flower Shares
A fresh bouquet of fresh homegrown flowers distributed every week for
10 consecutive weeks, usually beginning in late July.
